CHIROPRACTIC MAY HELP REDUCE YOUR ARM & SHOULDER PAIN

Did you know that you can do more movements with your arm than with any other part of your body? The shoulder joint is the most mobile joint in our body.

Your arms are very versatile. however, when they stop working a lot of problems can occur. Similar to the spine your shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands perform both complex movements and functions.

Because of the high range of mobility in these parts of the body if the joints become stiff, painful or lose their normal movement the symptoms can be wide and varied.

Problems with the neck, mid-back and the arm can also affect how the shoulder is working. That’s why it is important that all of these areas are checked at your chiropractic appointment.

SYMPTOMS OF SHOULDER AND ARM ISSUES

Symptoms such as pain, reduced motion, loss of strength or pins and needles can occur in the shoulder and down the armTrauma and repetitive stress to your joints such as your shoulder, elbow and wrist can cause pain and dysfunction anywhere in the shoulder and arm.

Some of the most typical complaints and injuries we treat in our chiropractic clinic include rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, general sporting injuries and work-related repetitive strain injuries.

SHOULDER PAIN

Painful and limiting shoulder conditions such as frozen shoulder are very frustrating and can affect individuals of any age. They can range from that of a mild to serious condition and can be caused by specific injuries to the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and cartilage or wear and tear from old injuries.

The nerves that supply the shoulder and arm actually originate from the upper spine and neck. Abnormal function and damage to this area can also cause shoulder and arm pain.

Our chiropractic practitioners will be happy to assess and discuss with you any shoulder condition such as adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder), rotator cuff disorders, stiffness and tension, arthritis or any other problems that you may have.

ELBOW PAIN

Elbow pain is often caused by overuse of the arm and elbow such as strain injuries from sports such as tennis or golf. Even sitting at the computer navigating with a mouse can affect the elbow.

It is important that all of your neck, shoulder, elbow and wrists are examined properly when assessing elbow pain.

HAND AND WRIST PAIN

Without your hands and wrists, the tasks you take for granted on a daily basis can suddenly be adversely affected. Eating, cooking, cleaning all relatively simple tasks that will become difficult once an injury occurs, therefore we recommend you book an appointment with your chiropractor as soon as you feel any pain or discomfort.

Common complaints involving hand and wrist pain include carpal tunnel syndrome, numbness, pins and needles and stiffness of the joints.

While some hand and wrist problems can often be associated with the reduced movement and restriction of the wrist sometimes some of the symptoms could be due to dysfunction in other areas of the body causing local dysfunction or referring pain.
